With Mount St. Helena as its backdrop, Zukowski Vineyards sits on southwest facing hillside slopes overlooking picturesque Knights Valley in Sonoma County. Cool nights and warm, sunny days provide an ideal climate for slow, even ripening of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes in our 22-year old vineyard. Rocky, volcanic soil forms challenging yet highly desirable growth conditions for deeply colored, small berries on carefully tended clusters. Resulting wines are characterized as finely structured and balanced, with deep color density, ripe fruit aromas, and rich, supple dark berry flavors. |

Mario's crew is working in the vineyard right now to incorporate changes in our trellis system. Since the vines are 22 years-old, we decided that some changes were in order to continue our goal to produce only top notch fruit for the best of wines.

We've been working with Deerfield Ranch Winery for many years now, and owner/winemaker Robert Rex is renowned as one of the best in the business. We're very excited to announce that soon to be released is the 2007 Deerfield Ranch Zukowski Vineyard Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. It's our first vineyard designated wine and we couldn't be happier with the result. Rumor has it that the wine will be officially released in May, and we'll be sure to notify you when it's available. In the meantime, check out the Deerfield Ranch Winery website or pay them a visit if you're in the area. I'm sure you'll be impressed with their offerings, and I'm willing to put my name on that!
Added note: We went to Deerfield Ranch Winery last Sunday and tried the wine. Wow! It's excellent!!
